What are the symptoms of rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by redness in the center of the face (cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin). It can be diagnosed by the following facial features:
• A classic flushing pattern that periodically gets worse
• Skin thickening
• Visible blood vessels (spider veins)
• Inflamed bumps or pus-filled bumps
• Burning or stinging
• Swelling
• Dry appearance
Rosacea can also cause eye irritation and eyelid swelling, which is called ocular rosacea. Any eye involvement should be evaluated in person by a primary care provider or an ophthalmologist (eye doctor).
