With Amazon One Medical, you can find menopause relief with providers who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and available when you need them.

In-Office and Remote Visits are not included in membership and are billed to you/your insurance; copays and deductibles may apply.

Are menopause visits covered by insurance?

Answer

Yes. In-Office and Remote Visits for menopause symptoms can be billed similarly to primary care visits. As long as One Medical is in-network, we can bill the visit to your insurance. Copays and deductibles may apply.

What is early menopause?

Answer

Menopause doesn't always occur within the typical age range of 46 to 55. It can happen earlier due to health issues like primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) or induced menopause, when ovaries are removed or damaged for medical reasons like chemotherapy or surgery. When this happens, it's important to work closely with a healthcare provider to understand your physical and emotional risk.

Menopause that occurs before age 45 is called early menopause. When you experience menopause before age 40, it's called premature menopause.

What are hot flashes?

Answer

Hot flashes and feelings of temperature dysregulation may be the most recognizable sign of menopause, with about 75% of women experiencing these vasomotor symptoms during the menopause transition. A hot flash typically feels like a sudden sensation of heat. It can be intense and uncomfortable, causing the skin to flush or sweat for 1 to 5 minutes at a time. Hot flashes that occur at night can result in night sweats.

What is genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM)?

Answer

Genitourinary syndrome of menopause, or GSM, is the name for a variety of menopause symptoms that affect the labia, clitoris, vagina, urethra, and bladder due to lower estrogen levels in the bloodstream. The term "vaginal atrophy," which doesn't fully describe these symptoms, is an outdated term for GSM.

GSM can cause vaginal dryness, pain during sex, leaky bladder, and other uncomfortable physical changes. About half of women in the menopause transition experience these symptoms, which become more common as time passes. GSM can be successfully treated with vaginal estrogen creams, rings, or inserts.
